Inspection & Maintenance Instructions for ATVs

Following this Manufacturer’s warranty Service will help to ensure smooth, efficient and fun operation of your vehicles. ATV EDMONTON will do everything in its power to ensure your continued satisfaction with your vehicles.

I. Assembly: After vehicle assembly, do the following:

  • Ensure all nuts/bolts are securely fastened.
  • Replace engine oil with a high grade blend (15-40w) or (10-40w)
  • Replace spark plug with an appropriate new NGK plug. Part #CR6-HSA

25 point ATV/motorcycle system check:

Fuel System

  1. Check carburetor for proper operation
  2. Check for proper operation of choke
  3. Check for proper operation of fuel pet-cock
  4. Check for proper operation of fuel drain line
  5. Check for proper operation of gas tank vent
  6. Check and adjust idle set screw
  7. Adjust needle if necessary (high altitude)

Electrical

  1. Install and check battery – fill with electrolyte if battery is not a sealed unit
  2. Check fuses
  3. Check all lights
  4. Check ignition
  5. Ensure proper operation of starter
  6. Check that spark plug wire is properly installed

Engine

  1. Check oil for proper level and quality
  2. Check cooling system for anti-freeze (only on water cooled units)

Suspension

  1. Check wheel bearings
  2. Check and adjust suspension components
  3. Check and adjust tire pressure (2-6psi and within 1lb of each other)
  4. Check and adjust brakes

Other

  1. Check all plastic for damage
  2. Check and adjust throttle cable
  3. Check foot-rests
  4. Test all hand and foot controls for proper operation
  5. Check and adjust (and lubricate) chain
  6. Check trans-axle fluid level (if necessary)

II. First Service Interval – 10-15 Hours Use:

  1. Check all nuts/bolts for tightness and security.
  2. Check all Engine/Vehicle fluid levels and ensure there are no leaks.
  3. Check and adjust chain tension if necessary (initially there will be “chain stretch”).
  4. Check tire pressure.
  5. Check all cables/controls for proper operation.
  6. Check brake pads, drums/rotors and hoses

III. 3 Month Service Interval:

  1. Check all nuts/bolts for tightness and security.
  2. Change Engine Oil.
  3. Check and replace spark plug if necessary.
  4. Check and adjust chain tension if necessary.
  5. Check tire pressure/condition.
  6. Check all cables/controls for proper operation.
  7. Lube all fittings/chain as necessary.

IV. 6 Month Service Interval:

  1. Check all nuts/bolts for tightness and security.
  2. Change Engine Oil and Filter.
  3. Replace Spark Plug.
  4. Check and adjust chain tension if necessary.
  5. Check tire pressure/condition.
  6. Check and adjust Valve Clearances if necessary.
  7. Check all cables/controls for proper operation.
  8. Lube all fittings/chain as necessary.
  9. Check all Vehicle fluid levels (coolant, brake fluid, etc.)

V. 12 Month Service Interval:

  1. Check all nuts/bolts for tightness and security.
  2. Change Engine Oil and Filter.
  3. Check and replace Spark Plug if necessary.
  4. Check and adjust chain tension if necessary.
  5. Check tire pressure/condition.
  6. Check all cables/controls for proper operation.
  7. Lube all fittings/chain as necessary.
  8. Flush and replace brake fluid.
  9. On water-cooled vehicles – Flush and replace coolant.
